<p>On June 6, 2025, our domestic long-term customer sent us a quotation request for carbon &amp; stainless steel flange, including <a href="https://www.zzfittings.com/product-details/weld-neck-flange/">weld neck flanges</a> and <a href="https://www.zzsteels.com/products/socket-weld-flange/">socket weld flanges</a>, covering multiple specifications and pressure ratings. Upon receiving the request, we immediately confirmed the product specifications and calculated the costs, and provided the customer with a detailed quotation and delivery schedule on the same day. The client expressed satisfaction with our response speed and technical support and placed an official order one month later.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-to-choose">How to Choose?</h2>



<p>When selecting carbon steel flanges and stainless steel flanges, the following factors should be primarily considered:</p>



<p>Medium characteristics: If the fluid is a corrosive medium (such as acids or alkalis), stainless steel flanges must be selected. If the medium is ordinary water or oil, carbon steel flanges are more cost-effective.</p>



<p>Environmental conditions: If the flange is installed in a corrosive environment such as a humid or high-salt fog environment, stainless steel flanges provide better protection and reduce maintenance costs.</p>



<p>Budget: Under the premise of meeting performance requirements, if the budget is limited, carbon steel flanges are an economical choice.</p>



<p>Sanitary requirements: In the food and pharmaceutical industries, for sanitary reasons, only stainless steel flanges are typically permitted.</p>

<p>On 8<sup>th</sup>, May, a client from New Zealand sent us one request about ASTM A105 <a href="https://www.zzfittings.com/products/threaded-fittings/">threaded fittings</a>. We reverted our offer under DDU incoterms. Around 3 weeks later, we recontacted this client to know his concern and assist. In the meantime, we showed our business scope and some goods. Fortunately, we were exactly what the client was searching. He emailed us a more comprehensive inquiry list within our scope and also we offered at the same day. 10 days later, we confirmed all details such as material, pressure, shipping method and received order.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-packaging">Packaging</h2>



<p>Individual Packaging: Each forged part is individually wrapped in rust-proof paper, bubble wrap, or pearl cotton to prevent collisions and scratches.</p>



<p>Shock-Absorbing Filling: The individually packaged forged parts are placed in sturdy cardboard or plastic boxes, with the interior filled with shock-absorbing materials such as foam, shredded paper, or air cushion bags.</p>



<p>Vacuum packaging/aluminum foil bag packaging: For precision forgings with extremely high requirements for moisture resistance and corrosion prevention, vacuum-sealed or inert gas-filled (e.g., nitrogen) aluminum foil bags are used to isolate oxygen and moisture.</p>



<p>Wooden boxes/wooden frame boxes: For heavier forgings or those requiring enhanced protection, closed wooden boxes or framed wooden boxes are used, with internal fixed brackets or cushioning materials as needed.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-threaded-elbow">Threaded Elbow</h4>



<p>A threaded elbow is a pipe fitting used to change the direction of a pipe, with threads on one or both ends. It usually consists of an elbow body and a threaded part. The bending part of the elbow body is generally 90° or 45°.</p>

<p>ASTM A234 is standard specification for wrought&nbsp;carbon steel&nbsp;&amp;&nbsp;alloy steel <a href="https://www.zcpipefittings.com/carbon-steel-butt-weld-90-degree-elbow.html">pipe fittings</a>&nbsp;which covers seamless and welded types.</p>



<p>The specification for the carbon steel 90 degree elbow, covers steel pipe fittings such as the carbon steel elbow A234 WPB which are primarily used in applications for the pressure piping systems. Generally these Elbow A234 Wpc fittings are designed to be used in moderate and high temperature applications . The A234 SR elbow is the standard of pipe fittings material, which indicates the materials properties of different kinds of carbon steel and alloy steel. One such steel grade in this standard is the WPB . In the term WPB, W means weldable, P stands for pressure, while B is grade b. B refers to the minimum yield strength, such as the ASTM A106/A53 Gr.B or API 5L Gr.B. A234 WPB, which is the most common material used in the manufacture of carbon steel pipe fittings.</p>

<p>There are two main types of 90 degree elbows long radius (LR) and short radius (SR) elbows. Long-radius elbows have a longer center line radius than the pipe diameter, making them less abrupt in the change of direction. They are mainly used in low-pressure and low-velocity systems.</p>

<p>Carbon steel hex bushing&nbsp;is&nbsp;used to reduce the size of female threads from a larger to a smaller diameter. Hex Bushings are threaded fittings that have male threads on the outside and female threads on the inside with a hex head used to tighten the fitting into the threaded opening.</p>



<p>ASME B16.11 forged threaded bushing has hex head bushing, flush bushing and reducing bushing. They are manufactured in accordance with ASME standard. Carbon steel <a href="https://www.zcpipefittings.com/bushing.html">hex</a> bushing is common used material. They do not require welding, so easy to install and modify for adding to these systems. Carbon stee hex bushing is similar as plug, the difference is the solid or hole. They are used for closing off the end of different pipes and fittings .The final function is leak proof.</p>

<p>ASTM A105 Threaded Fittings is a one type of forged carbon steel pipe fitting, which manufactured conform to standard of ASME B16.11 and BS 3799. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Carbon Steel ASTM A105 Threaded Fittings</h2>



<p>Carbon steel forged fittings are in large demand, and Grade ASTM A105 is the most popular. This alloy is forged at between 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit and 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit, followed by quenching and tempering. It contains Manganese and silicon which can improve the quality. </p>



<p>The composition of <a href="https://www.zzsteels.com/2019/07/05/what-is-threaded-pipe-fittings/">Carbon Steel ASTM A105 Threaded Fittings</a> does not change, but the grains are refined. It is resistant to high temperatures and impacts, but have poor corrosion resistance. You can choose galvanized Elbow to prolong the services life.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Class 3000 Threaded Fittings</h3>

<p>3000LB threaded fittings are extensive used in heating, water and gas pipeline and dismantle demanded pipelines with low pressure. Their application are limited by following conditions:</p>



<p>1. The thread should be tapered. All fittings with internal and external threads shall be threaded with American National Standard Taper Pipe Threads (ASME B1.20.1). It is not recommended to use threaded fittings when the temperature is lower than -45℃ or higher than 200℃.</p>



<p>2. Toxic medium pipeline should be avoided.</p>



<p>3. Pipes with vibrations and excessive temperature changes should be avoided.</p>



<p>4. Compare with welded fittings, the seal of threaded fittings are less strong. That’s why it usually accompanied with sealant.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What is ASTM A105?</h3>



<p>ASTM A105&nbsp;is most commonly used carbon steel material grade that used to manufacture forged fittings of small diameter and forged steel flanges which below 24 inch. This carbon steel material grade is used for ambient- and higher-temperature service in pressure systems.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What is Female NPT?</h3>



<p>NPT and <a href="https://www.zzfittings.com/product-details/bsp-union/">BSP </a>are the most common threads for threaded fittings. NPT female thread is an internal tapered threads with 60 degree angle. The thread taper is 1:16, size range is 1/16” to 12”. </p>



<p>According to the standard, all
internal threads shall be countersunk a distance not less than one-half the
pitch of the thread at an angle of approximately 45 deg with the axis of the
thread. Countersinking shall be concentric with the threads. The length of
threads shall be measured to include the countersink.</p>

<p>Blind flange is a plate that attaches to a pipe end to block off pipeline and provides easy access for cleaning, inspection and modification. They have the same function with pipe plugs and caps, but it is detachable.</p>

And should be placed where isolation is needed, such as the nozzle of a device, before or after a shut-off valve or between two flanges.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-raised-face">What is Raised Face?</h2>



<p>Raised face is almost the most common sealing type among all kind of flanges and is easy to identify. This type flange has a higher gasket surface than bolting circle face. BLRF Flange can increase the pressure containment capability of the joint. </p>



<p>The height of raised face are fixed in most manufacture standards except ASME standard. In this standard, the raised face height will increase along with the pressure.</p>

<p>Carbon Steel ASTM A105 threaded Forged Fittings are low Carbon, Manganese and Silicon added fittings which are usable for non-critical yet pressure applications, like refrigeration fittings, that work at constant temperatures.
