ASTM A358 TP316 Stainless Steel EFW Pipe is an Electro-Fusion-Welded Pipe (Electro-Fusion-Welded Pipe) manufactured from austenitic stainless steel grade 316, which is used in a wide range of applications for pressure piping systems in high-temperature, highly corrosive environments.

ASTM A358 is a standard specification covering electrofusion-welded austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel piping for high-temperature service and general applications. One specific stainless steel grade under this specification is TP316. It is widely used where excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength are required. Contact US

Benefits of Using ASTM A358 TP316 Pipes

Excellent Corrosion Resistance:

TP316 grade contains molybdenum, which significantly improves its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, far superior to the common TP304 stainless steel.

Excellent High Temperature Resistance:

ASTM A358 TP316 Stainless Steel EFW Pipe maintain good oxidation resistance and mechanical strength at high temperatures, making them suitable for high temperature service conditions.

Good weldability:

ASTM A358 standard specifies the Electrofusion Welding (EFW) process. It produces uniform and consistent welds and walls, ensuring the integrity of the pipe at high temperatures, pressures and corrosive conditions.

High strength and durability:

has good tensile and yield strength to withstand high pressures and flow rates. The overall structure is stable and durable, resisting mechanical damage and ensuring reliable performance over long periods of time.

1. What is EFW stainless pipe?

EFW stainless steel pipe is formed by longitudinal or spiral welding of stainless steel plate or coil by arc heating, which has the advantages of high welding quality and good dimensional accuracy. The pipe is suitable for large caliber and thick-walled occasions, and is widely used in pressure pipelines, heat exchangers, chemical equipment and nuclear power and other fields with high requirements for strength and corrosion resistance.

2. What is a358 316 material?

ASTM A358 316 material refers to Grade 316 austenitic stainless steel pipe manufactured to the ASTM A358 specification for EFW pipe. Grade 316 stainless steel contains chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, which provide excellent corrosion resistance, especially in chloride-rich environments. This material is often used in chemical processing, marine applications, and high-temperature or high-pressure piping systems due to its excellent strength, durability, and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

3. Which is better, ERW or EFW?

ERW and EFW have their own advantages and disadvantages and are suitable for different applications. Generally speaking, ERW pipes are used in low and medium pressure fluid transportation systems, such as water supply and natural gas pipelines, due to their high productivity and low cost. On the other hand, EFW pipes are mostly used in high-pressure, high-temperature or corrosive environments. Such as chemical, nuclear and boiler systems, where the quality of the welds is higher, and they are suitable for the manufacture of large-diameter, thick-walled pipes. Therefore, which is better depends on the specific needs of the application. If weld strength and corrosion resistance are important, EFW is better. If economy and medium strength are important, ERW is more suitable.
