<p>On December 17, 2024, we received an inquiry from a Canadian customer. The inquiry product this time was a 34-inch Bend made of API 5LX52. We have cooperated with this customer on large-size elbows many times before, and we have a trusting cooperative relationship with each other.</p>



<p>This customer has very strict requirements on the quality of the goods. The customer purchased a 34 inch <a href="https://www.zzfittings.com/product-details/bend-pipe-fittings/">45 degree bend</a>, and asked us to produce a 34 inch 20 degree bend for destruction test.</p>



<p>Due to the smooth cooperation before, we quickly received the customer&#8217;s purchase order. After the production was completed, we provided the customer with the destruction test report, heat treatment report, hardness test report, magnetic particle test report, chemical composition test report and MTC, and shipped after the customer&#8217;s approval.</p>

<p>API 5L X52 is a steel grade under the API 5L standard, which covers seamless and welded steel pipes for the transmission of oil, gas, and fluids. The X52 grade indicates a minimum yield strength of 52,000 psi (360 MPa). When referring to a bend, it means a pipe section that has been curved or bent to change the pipeline direction while maintaining strength and integrity.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-is-a-bend-in-piping">What is a Bend in Piping?</h2>



<p>A <a href="https://www.zcpipefittings.com/steel-pipe-bend.html">steel pipe bend </a>in piping refers to a curved section of a pipe used to change the direction of flow within a piping system. Unlike standard elbows, which have fixed angles, bends can have a custom radius and angle, offering more flexibility in design.</p>

<p>One new client from Morocco send me a inquiry about Socket Weld Fittings by email.</p>



<p>The next day, I marked the weight and prices for client, and quoted to him. I also attached the data sheet and sample MTC for him reference.</p>



<p>The client feedback that our quotation is professional and thanks for the data sheet and sample MTC which is helpful to win the order.</p>



<p>One month later, I followed the client by email. He reply me soon, and asked the data sheet and sample MTC again.</p>



<p>Another week passed, the client told me they got the order, and ask me provide the proforma invoice for him the payment.</p>

<p>ASTM A105&nbsp;socket fittings are pipe fittings used to assemble pipe systems through socket connection, and are mainly made of carbon steel. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-to-inspect-socket-weld-fittings">How to inspect socket weld fittings?</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-visual-inspection">Visual Inspection</h3>



<p>The most basic and common inspection method to check the general condition and installation of socket weld fittings.</p>



<p>Ensure the pipe end is fully inserted into the socket of the fitting. There should be no visible gaps between the pipe and the fitting.</p>



<p>Check that the pipe and fitting are properly aligned. Misalignment can cause stress or failure later.</p>



<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Visually inspect the weld for any obvious defects like cracks, porosity, or incomplete fusion.</p>



<p>The weld should be smooth and even, with a consistent bead. There should be no sharp edges, undercuts, or excessive weld metal.</p>



<p>Presence of Leaks: Look for any signs of leakage, especially around the weld area, even if there is no visible crack.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-dimensional-inspection">Dimensional Inspection</h3>



<p>To ensure the fitting and pipe dimensions meet the design specifications and tolerances.</p>



<p>Measure the socket depth to ensure that the pipe is inserted to the correct depth for a proper weld.</p>



<p>Check that the pipe has been inserted fully into the fitting. An insufficient insertion depth can result in weak or incomplete welds.</p>



<p>Verify that the pipe is correctly centered in the fitting.</p>



<p>For threaded fittings, check that the threads are clean, undamaged, and fit correctly.</p>

<p>Carbon steel hex bushing&nbsp;is&nbsp;used to reduce the size of female threads from a larger to a smaller diameter. Hex Bushings are threaded fittings that have male threads on the outside and female threads on the inside with a hex head used to tighten the fitting into the threaded opening.</p>



<p>ASME B16.11 forged threaded bushing has hex head bushing, flush bushing and reducing bushing. They are manufactured in accordance with ASME standard. Carbon steel <a href="https://www.zcpipefittings.com/bushing.html">hex</a> bushing is common used material. They do not require welding, so easy to install and modify for adding to these systems. Carbon stee hex bushing is similar as plug, the difference is the solid or hole. They are used for closing off the end of different pipes and fittings .The final function is leak proof.</p>
