Heat Treatment

After hot working, forgings shall be cooled to a temperature below 1000°F [538°C] prior to heat treating in accordance with the requirements as following.

Stainless Steel Forged Fittings Types

Stainless Steel Forged Fittings ASTM A/SA182 in sizes 1/8″ to 4″, shapes & dimensions are conform to standard of ASME B16.11. 

Pressure ratings for threaded fittings are Class 2000#, 3000# and 6000#. 

Pressure ratings for socket weld fittings are Class 3000#, 6000# and 9000#.

Miscellaneous fittings such as pipe nipples, concentric & eccentric swages and branch connection outlets (olets) are also available.

ASTM A182 Gr. F91 Alloy Steel High Pressure Forged Fittings

This is a low alloy steel with alloys less than 5%. Due to the chemical composition, people also call it as chrome moly alloy.

F91 Couplings have highly strength to withstand high pressure. The low carbon content makes socket weld flanges easy to weld. 90 degree Elbows in chrome moly alloy are not easily deformed, and their great yield strength allows them to recover from deformation after processing. Why Alloy Steel A182 F91 is so popular? Because the good corrosion resistant to atmosphere, which improves the performance of coatings, makes it is possible to apply in an exposed environment.

As we know, alloy steel A182 F91 is material of forged steel fittings. What’s the equivalent grade for Butt Weld Fittings? It is ASTM A234 WP91. They have same chemical compositions and mechanical properties. So as UNS K90901 and WNR.1.4903

Among those common used grades, Grade 91 is the best one, each data of mechanical properties is higher than other grades.
