Types of Steel Pipe Coupling

According to the connection methods, we can divided them into socket weld and threaded coupling.

According to the shape, we can call them as straight coupling and reducing coupling.

There are also full and half coupling. Both of them have same dimensions except the length. We can see below difference data sheet.

Package of Carbon Steel Half Coupling

We marked all carbon steel half coupling with Size, Pressure, Material & Grade and Heat Number. The workers will sleeve ASTM A105 socket weld half couplings into plastic bag individually, line them in cartons, then packed all cartons into wooden cases, finally bundled wooden cases with nylon rope.

Shipping mark is stick on the outside of the package for easy identification.

Inspection of Socket Weld Coupling

Visual the surface of socket weld fittings body.

Measure the outside & inside diameter, wall thickness, and dimensions of the socket.

Check the marking ” 2″ 6000# ASTM A105 B16.11 Z168″ if correct.

Considering the tolerance of outside diameter of pipe, the diameters of some socket bore can be a little larger than the ones specified in B16.11.
